FS - Switchgear Interlock
Description
The Switchgear Interlock is a key operated mechanical interlock suitable for the control of electrical switchgear. The standard unit comes with a 9.5mm square x 22mm long shaft that is used to either direct drive switchgear or to control it via a locking lever or bracketry supplied by the switchgear manufacturer. Many suppliers of switchgear equipment have mounting kits available for Castell interlocks. The lock is manufactured in brass or stainless steel making it ideally suited to use in harsh or corrosive environments.
Operation
The rotation of the shaft is controlled by the operation of the key. The rotational movement of the key is variable and should be specified on ordering, this will be dependent on the type of switchgear being used.
Typical System
The FS / Q is designed to operate as part of an integrated safety system, controlling the operation of HV/LV switchgear. A typical example is shown below.
System Description
The feeders supply their own section of busbar with the bus section switches open, or any one feeder to the whole busbar if bus section switches are closed, but ensuring that no two feeders can be connected in parallel.
Key 'AA' and 'BB' will operate feeder switch interlocks 1 and 3 and adjacent bus section switches only. Key 'AB' will operate feeder switch 2 and either bus section switch.
