| Description |
| The BD Lock is a two part access interlock comprising of a main body and catch complete with secondary lock portions. The catch is available in two options, one suited to well aligned doors, the other suited to poor, misaligned doors. The interlock is manufactured in brass and comes with the brass figure or Q type lock portions. The lock is ideally suited for use on light duty panel doors in dry, non-corrosive environments where the lock is subject to to medium use. Typical industries using the BD Lock are Control Panel Builders, HV and LV Switchgear and the food industry. |
| Operation |
Key exchange: Under normal operating conditions the primary key is trapped, the secondary key(s) are free and the catch is trapped in the lock. The catch can only be released when the secondary key(s) have been inserted and the primary key removed. With the catch removed, the secondary key(s) are trapped within the lock.
Double key: Under normal operating conditions the primary and secondary keys are free and the catch is trapped in the lock. The catch can only be released when both the primary and secondary keys have been inserted. With the catch removed, the keys are trapped within the lock.

| System Description |
| The removal of the isolation key in the Powersafe switch isolates the electrical supply to the machine. This key is inserted in the secondary lock of the BD interlock, which allows removal of the primary key and catch. The secondary key is trapped within the lock once the primary key has been removed. The primary key is then taken into the area by the operative to safeguard against accidental lock in or start up or to initialize another part of the process, i.e. switching the machine into a teach mode. The guard can only be opened when the electrical supply has been switched into a safe condition. |
